Welcome to Readinglasses

Reading Lasses in Wigtown, Scotland’s National Book Town, was created and opened by Pamela Carter Hood and Angela Everitt in December 1997. Before then, we both worked as academics in Newcastle upon Tyne, specialising in these subjects. Our range of books is intended to be of interest to all kinds of people - from those simply wanting a good read to those with specialised interests in these subjects.

We are also always interested in buying books in these subjects and travel throughout Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales and the U.S. to buy books.

Reading Lasses is on the main square in South Main Street opposite the bowling green in the centre of Wigtown. Everyone is welcome to visit and browse. Our shop includes an award-winning café with fair trade coffee, and home-made, locally grown and sourced produce.
